Križ is a story of family winery: the union of tradition and modernity. On its 3 hectares of biodynamically grown vineyards on the Pelješac peninsula this winery is a pioneer of ecological wine production in Dalmatia. Denis, Maja and their little girl, Maruška, left the urban life of the city to revitalise Denis heritage of dying vineyards in the small village of Prizdrina. Back in mid 2000s when the story begun there was knowledge and tradition of Denis father, Mile. He is now gone but the wines continue to tell the story of the Pelješac history and its rich smells and tastes of nature. The vineyards are cultivated in a traditional and non-invasive way, which preserves the microflora of the soil and natural yeasts. In the wine cellar, wines are produced by spontaneous fermentation without the use of oenological chemicals and additives.
